12 in unison
Alhambra L-3C Laud in excellent condition and perfect working order. Essentially a Spanish version of a lute, the Laud features a flat-back as opposed to the deep round back of a traditional lute, and has been used for centuries as an accompany instrument to vocalists. With 6 pairs of unison tuned strings, the Laud should feel right at home to anybody accustomed to playing a 12 string guitar, but with a shorter 19" scale length. The Alhambra L-3C was built in Muro Del Alcoy, Spain using a solid cedar top, sapele back and sides, mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard to produce a tone that, while warm and round, stands out in a mix in a very pleasing way, never getting harsh. Its tonality falls somewhere between a 12 string acoustic guitar and a mandolin, perfect for any writing, recording, or performing situation that could use a unique timbre while still grounded in a familiar tonal range.
